Haunted Pubs of Portsmouth Walk

Join us on our favorite tour - the Northeast's only Haunted Pub Tour. These unique tours visit some of Portsmouth's Taverns that are both historic and haunted.  Hear about the legacy and history of the locations along with stories of hauntings that haven't been told to the general public - until now. Who is the mischievous ghost who knocks down glasses and locks doors in one local Pub? Who are the ladies that are dressed in 19th century gowns that peer from the windows of a local tavern? Was there a Pub that became an Inn where the spirits threw bottles of alcohol out the windows and why? Plus, we will go into one pub on each tour to sample the atmosphere, history and perhaps a beverage or two.
Portsmouth has a brewery history dating back to colonial times. Following the Civil War, beer and ale-making became Portsmouth's dominant industry. The breweries included the Eldredge Brewery and Frank Jones Brewery, which at the time was America's largest ale-maker. We will cover the fascinating stories and legends from at least 7 of Portsmouth's distinctive pubs. Plus, learn some surprising facts from brewing history. The surroundings of wonderfully appointed taverns provide the backdrop for a tour you won't soon forget. This tour has been featured in publications nationwide from Portsmouth Magazine to Better Homes and Gardens - come on and join us to find out what the "buzz"is all about.
This tour is also available for private functions and group tours. These walks meet at the North Church, downtown Portsmouth, Market Square. There is a parking garage nearby. This tour is held rain, snow or shine (it can be held mostly indoors). Please keep in mind that our October tours sell out quickly.
This tour is by reservation ONLY. Due to space and facility limitations we cannot accept walkups for this tour. We also reserve the right to remove *anyone who becomes disruptive from this tour* at our discretion.
Delicious 3 course meal included, AND a private wine tasting, featuring local wineries at the end of the tour. We have given our tour guests goosebumps time and again on this tour. $29.00 inclusive - per person. The tour is about two and a half hours. Guide gratuities not included.
