York Village Shadows of the Past Tour

Listed as one of Maine Living Magazine's Top Ten Things to do in 2009!

Join the author of Haunted York County and encounter legends, lore, history and ghostly stories in one of the Seacoast's most quaint villages. Over 300 years of history will surround our guests on this tour. Stand in the ominous shadow of the Old Gaol: which served as a prison from 1719 through 1860 and hear intriguing tales about the old dungeon rooms and the prisoners. Find out the unusual meaning of "Kick the Beam".

A visit to the 17th century old York Burial Ground (one of the oldest graveyards in Maine) reveals incredible stone carvings of ancient skulls and angels as well as tales of shadow people and strange superstitions . We'll tell you why ghostly voices are heard along the local river! Looking for a ghostly inn to spend the night? We can tell you where to find it and who is haunting it. Plus guests will hear haunted tales from the local lighthouses and even a ghost ship. The tour is approximately an hour and fifteen minutes.

$12.00 for adults and $10.00 for children.
